WHY YOU SHOULD PRACTICE YOGA DURING THE CIRCUIT BREAKER

Without even realizing, you exercise every day. Maybe in the form of walking to get to your office or even going down to buy some groceries. But now, due to the circuit breaker with most of us stuck inside our homes, understanding the different ways you can keep active is vital for your physical and mental health.

Research shows that being sedentary is not good for your physical and mental wellbeing, hence staying active during this difficult time is important.

Physical activity also helps by keeping your immune system working effectively as it helps flush bacteria from the lungs and airways, increasing white blood cell circulation and raising body temperature, all of which help the body fight infections.

Keeping active is also a great way to ward off some of the psychological issues associated with being cooped up for an extended time. Being active helps to lower stress hormones and promotes the release of feel-good hormones.

So what can we do to ensure we make the most of the situation and keep ourselves fit and healthy?

If you’re stuck at home, there are multiple ways you can stay active and continue your workout routine – and some of these require little or no equipment.

Just fifteen minutes of yoga can burn up to 100 calories, depending on the type of yoga you are practicing. It not only supports you physically and mentally but will also make a difference in how you feel and approach the rest of your day.
