Well, we have no ‘one size fits-all‘ answer for this though. Your practice could be different in every class. The amount of time and dedication spent into the practice shall in time intuitively send signal to your body that ‘it’s time to move progressively harder’.
It is always a pre-requisite to master the basic of Yoga principles – the pranayama, asanas and understanding of what it does to your body at the end of the day. It could take years for each and everyone of us to fully understand what Yoga is all about.
Mastering a pose that extend your flexibility, strength or both might look easy to some but not for others. What we need to put in priority is to understand how much our body and mind can accept our inner self and changes that Yoga does to ourselves. Only then, you will be able to find the solution or answer to advance or take on more challenging practice without compromising your awareness.
So, stay to build the fundamentals or skip to challenge ourselves? Find the balance in between and tell yourself that I am looking forward to advance in my practice and all is coming. The key thing is whether you have practice consistently in order to take on more advanced class.
